Does masturbating around the time of trying to conceive decrease/increase the chances of getting pregnant?

It depends which partner is masturbating.
For the male, I guess masturbating before ttc would lower his sperm count. That's why it's recommended to TTC every other day rather than every day, so that there is time for the sperm count to build up again.
For the female, having an orgasm right after the man ejaculates is supposed to help to suck up the sperm from the vagina into the uterus, and thereby increase chances of conception. If you don't have one through the act of intercourse, then it might be a good idea to masturbate right after til you get to the big O.

If the male masterbates around the time of trying to conceive it will decrease the chances of getting pregnant. This is even more so if you or he already have infertility problems. It takes about 24 hours for sperm to build back up completely after ejaculation. So can still get pregnant if he masterbates but to better your chances he shouldn't around the time your ovulating.

The percentage of normal sperm and the percentage of motile sperm decrease with infrequent ejaculation. Overall, ejaculation three to four times per week will ensure the optimum number of good motile sperm.
While having more sex at the time of ovulation is a good idea for couples trying to conceive, you should not wait till ovulation to have sexual intercourse.

male masturbation can easily affect the ability to conceive as you may lack sufficient quantities of viable semen.
Female masturbation can also genuinely affect, as the alkaline atmosphere of the vaginal area can be drawn into the uterus and make an already hostile environment even more so

Instead of mastubating why don't you just have sex....I know for sure that increases your chances of becoming pregnant!! As for masturbation...I'm not sure.

No, I have heard if you freeze the boys with peas, you increase your chances.. Also when you finish the deed. you must hold your lady's legs in the air above her head for 30 minutes to encourage your boys to swim.
Oh, teach them to ask for directions so they will not get lost on the way to the egg.

i don't think so. the only thing I can think of is if a guy masturbated too much and couldn't orgasm that day, but thats indirectly related.
