Job rotation potentially broadens your experience in the company, provides you with new skills, increases your understanding of how different parts of the company work, and increases your value to your employer. It also can make your job more interesting and enjoyable by providing you with more variety in your responsibilities. Nothing is duller than doing the same thing every day.

For accounting purposes, it's a 'system of checks and balances. Suppose one of your duties is to audit and approve expense reports. A pal is submitting padded reports and you are approving them. Then, one day, someone else is moved into that job and here comes a padded expense report from your buddy. But you aren't the one to approve them.
This is part of checks and balances, and might discourage such behavior.
