how do you unlock a cell phone?

my friend just gave me a cell phone to use bc my good phone broke and when i turn it on it says it is locked and i need to know how to unlock it

Do you mean from a particular network?
You have to call the company it is locked to and most often pay a fee (unless it is an older model phone). They unlock it so it can be used on any network.

If you are just talking about the password to get into the phone ask your friend. It is usually 0000 (default) or last 4 digits of the phone number or whatever your friend changed it to.

It depends, if it's a pin lock or a phone lock it will be a four digit password ( try 0000 - that's the standard one), if it's a keypad lock then it will just be holding down one of the buttons. Different brands have different keys to unlock, Sony Ericson is the c, Nokia is the # then ok. Otherwise ask your friend.

I think you gotta put in some special code to get the phone to be unlocked, best left ti a hacker or smthn

The phone probably had a code to open it. I would ask your friend for the code to unlock that bad boy.

press the select button, and then right afterward press the star button, thats how mine works, mine is a NOKIA phones so, good luck!

if its a nextel
go to menu then click pound
and if pound doesnt work go to menu then click star

ask your friend isnt he the one who locked it in the first place? it think he will be able to unblock it if he can block it

usually it would prompt you on how to do so...if not you'll need to ask your friend...if he doesn't know then take it to the retailer
