building dome houses is probably your way to go. its good for seismic activity and bad weather. ever wonder why an egg is round, because it can withstand pressure shaking and other aspects of nature than if it were box shaped. same with Earth itself how much better can Earth withstand a large meteorite if it were cubical rather than spherical? Look at the arches in the bridges and buildings the Romans came up with, they stand to this day. With dome housing you do not have only four walls to depend on holding up your roof, you have support all around, ground your home with beams to stabilize your home deep in the ground to prevent sliding cracking with the soil.

In some tall buildings, they install some sort of heavy pendulum at the top of the building which opposes any movements of the building by transferring the energy to the pendulum. But as previously answered, the key to it is having a building which can wobble. Anything brittle will snap
