Kansas vs Missouri is the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi. The "boarder war" title goes back to the civil war. Missouri slavery supporters burned Lawrence to the ground and killed hundreds. Missouri still is the home to many of the racial problems today. The bigotry in the state still exists. I recently spoke to a man who had just move to our state from Missouri. I was blown away by the racist comments that came out of his mouth.

This will be the 116th meeting, making it the second most-played rivalry in Division I-A (only Wisconsin-Minnesota has been played more often, though the Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry is the most played in college football). First game was in 1891, and the series is completely deadlocked, with each team winning 53 times and playing to 9 ties.
