I have an exam (planned parenthood) scheduled for Friday, and I'm scared that I might get my period before then. If I do am I supposed to call and cancel? Because that seems kinda gross to go at that time of the month, but obviously I have no idea because this is my first time going!

If you get your period you should reschedule, as the flow may mess with the results and you might need to take it again.

The ONLY way I could see no problem going while on your period is if you called in because your period is lasting extremely long and they want you to come in.

HOWEVER, I would call them if you have your period and ask them what you should do. Don't just go there on your period without informing them prior to showing up, especially if they don't normally do gyno exams while women are on their periods.

If you are planning on having a Pap done then you should reschedule b'c the cells they look at can be occluded by the blood cells and skin cells from your period. If you're going because of a problem you should probably go. Call and ask them to be sure.

Are you talking about a pap smear? It's recommended not to go on your period because the results won't be as accurate. Go the week after your period if you can. They say the worst week to go is the week before your period.

They will probably ask you to reschedule. Not because it's gross - believe me they've seen worse. But because it may be difficult to get a thorough exam if you are bleeding or swollen due to menstruating. Wait to see what happens and then ask what they suggest.

yes you have to call and cancel...they don't like to do an exam until two weeks after your last period- definitely not during.it throws off the tests.

You need to reschedule if you end up on your period. I had the same problem come up once- they won't examine you that way.

I believe you have to reschedule.

If you think your going to start, or do start, then call and ask if you need to reschedule.
