It's OK! read the label, diarea might be the worst outcome.

I had read that the developer of petroleum jelly consumed a teaspoon a day and attributed his longevity in doing this.. I have tried to read more on the subject but the current attitude is it's not for consumption so I tried it anyway as a test and it seemed to relieve me of my chronic constipation but after awhile it produced blood in my urine.. Scared the crap out of me so I quit using it.. I experienced no ill effects from this (just a fear) then after about the same amount of time of using it, my urine cleared up.. A few weeks later I tried again but with half dose and after awhile the same thing happened only lighter.. I never went to the ER nor a doctor but was wondering if maybe I had some bladder problems that the jelly corrected.. Before taking the jelly I was borderline Urinary Incontinent (going often and not being able to sleep throughout the night) but now I seem to have gained back a good deal of control.. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Was using it helpful or derogatory.. would really like to know as I'm afraid to try again.

Petroleum jelly is not toxic and is only dangerous if swallowed in a massive amount. Does your son have abdominal pain, diarrhea, shortness of breath, coughing, or irritation of eyes, throat, nose, or skin? If not, I wouldn't worry any more about this. If so and if he's a little guy and swallowed half the container, consider taking him to the emergency room.

petroleum jelly is nontoxic.
He may get a little diarrhea .
He would have to swallow alot for it to make him sick.
To put your mind at ease call poison control they are 24-7 and you can call emergency or not.

If you called 911 and they advised you it would be o.k. That is a good sign. I'm a mother myself of two boys. I've also had some situations of my own with my boys being boys.. If anything, It may upset his stomach. Just watch him closely and if he starts throwing up uncontrollably or running a fever or having a allergic reaction. Then, You would take him to the E.R. But my gut tells me everything is going to be fine. I hope this helps :)

I'm sure it will be alright. However, if you need some reassurance call the 800# on the manufacture's label or better yet poison control. Both those agencies will be able to tell you if there are any bad affects if the product is ingested and further instructions on what to do.

I would call your poison control center just to double check. I have never heard of the risks of ingesting petroleum jelly.
