Let's just say that most Yankee fans liked Torre and still do. I don't think fans from other teams much care about the Torre situation and how it came down in New York. At best it was idle curiosity.

Yes, I think the Steinbrenners put their collective egos in front of the teams needs. As usual the Steinbrenner attitude is, "Nobody is going to tell me what to do". Up till now that attitude has worked mainly because they intimidate everyone but not this time. The players and fans as well as Joe Torre have had enough of their crap and decided that if the Steinbrenners didn't want to show respect then someone else would. In this case it was the LA Dodgers.

The Yankees are in for some difficult times. Changing managers wasn't the answer. The team needs pitching and like it or not they better figure out a way to re-sign A-Rod or the season is already lost.

I'm not painting a nice picture to be sure but it is what it is!!

No, it was a good move, and time for a change. Yeah, everyone liked Torre, but all good things must come to an end. The Yankees haven't for seven years now, so it was time to shake things up a bit. They made a great choice in Girardi. He played for Torre for four years, and served as bench coach for one, so he will be like Torre in some ways. But he is a little more intense, and will challenge some of the veterans to be better. He also will be great for the young pitchers the Yankees have.

I really liked Torre, but liking someone is no reason to keep them. Baseball is a business, as cold as that may seem.

No, they do no longer look to be stupid, and no it particularly is no longer ironic. i'm ill of listening to how Torre "led" the Dodgers to the playoffs and the Yankees are "sitting" domicile. The Yankees gained greater video games than the Dodgers, 89-80 4. the undertaking is the Yankees play in the american League that's a much greater constructive league than the national League. If the Dodgers performed in the american League East like the Yankees do, they might have finished 5th. Tampa Bay, Boston, the Yankees, and Toronto all had greater constructive records than the Dodgers did. Torre lucked out, the NL West replaced into terrible with in easy terms 2 communities above .500. you fairly need to strengthen up and look at all the information till now you circulate spouting off. HAHAHA. they do no longer look to be stupid for letting Torre circulate, he did no longer cause them to any championships the final SEVEN years he replaced into with the Yankees, and his burning out the bullpen value him multiple video games. He had lost his hearth, and the two he and the Yankees needed a transformation. And FYI, the Yankees did no longer "get rid" of Torre, they provided him a one-year deal at $6 million money and he grew to become it down. you're in easy terms a typical Yankee hater making a fool out of your self.

I like Torre and what the Yankees did was all business...Nobody who is involved with major league baseball is in it for the LOVE of the game.....Its business and business goes on regardless if the organization makes bad choices...In the case of the Yankees we all knew that if Torre did not win it all he was gone...The Yankees made him that offer knowing he will turn it down and that way it wouldn't make them look bad....as a Yankee fan I am happy for Joe Torre decision and what he did for the Yankees and us fans...

Everything happens for a reason and I think the reasons were mutual. Torre had a nice run of 12 years and he was a spectacular manager for most of them. Last year he made some questionable calls and he has been known to burn out young arms in relief. He made a ton of money in NY so I don't buy the reason he gave as being "Insulted" by the offer. He took less money to manage the Dodgers. He still would have been the highest paid manager in the MLB with the Yanks offer. I say new blood was called for and I welcome Joe Girardi as our new manager.

It was time for a change. In a way, they picked a good time to make the change because the Yanks made a quick exit from the playoffs, and either Girardi or Mattingly would have been an acceptable replacement. If would have been nice if Mattingly had stuck around, but he had his heart set on the job, and he was p----d off that he wasn't chosen to succeed Joe. Those young arms better come around in a hurry, though. Clemens wont be coming back, Pettit is probably gone, and Moose is really showing his age.

We've all been thru this situation at work .A new management team walks through the front door carrying brooms and it doesn't really matter how good some of the people in their employ are;The new guys want their people in those positions-and so they get them.
Don't worry about Torre .I'm sure that Lasorda has him properly briefed on all the authentic Italian food places in LA,if Joe doesn't know about them already

No, Time for a change, but Yankees will miss playoffs in 2008. Girardi out in 2 years, Torre out of LA in 2 years.

Torre has had an allstar lineup all 12 seasons he was in NY. I think anyone could have accomplished what he has which was nothing the last few years! I think they needed a change and surprised he made it through last season.

Torres' true colors will show in LA when they still dont make the playoffs!
