You people, dont just refer this person to sites. Of course once you are in the inner city there are the shoppings streets, Dam Square, Madame Tussauds. But try to hop on the tram that goes to Albert Cuyp Market or Dapper Market. Amsterdam Oost(East) has a nice big park and a lovely museum(Tropen Museum) that shows a lot of times the life of ethnic people living in Amsterdam. This part of Amsterdam shows you the non-tourist side of the city but its nice to see it. Try to transport yourself by using the tram.
