Okay, so I'm an aspiring recording artist, and I want to have a specific trademark. I'M NOT A NAZI FOR GOD'S SAKE! I'm an East Indian Hindu, and I'm very upset that those Nazi's took my heritage away from me. Those Nazis call themselves "aryans" while I'm the real Aryan! I'm not racist or anything, and the swastica in my religion isn't a white supremacist sign! It's a sign of peace and unity crap whatever it is. All I know, is that it means well. So, if a swastica was my trademark, would the mainstream world accept that? I personally hate mainstream music, but I can't chose the kind of people who'd like my music. My music is a mix of electronica and rock (even though I don't believe in musical genres).

Sorry, no.
for thousands of years, the swastika was a symbol of dividing the universe into active and passive principles.
In the early part of the 20th century, Boy Scouts could earn a White Swastika merit badge.
All it took was 12 years of the nazi to turn this symbol of peace into hated and malevolence.
It can NEVER be fully rehabilitated. Do NOT use it, for the first think poeple will think is a racist skinhead.
Look, I saa a question from someone here who felt the statue of Buddha was using Satanic hand gestures

You are right that it was previously a peacful symbol, but you also have to accept that symbols can change. Sometimes this change is quick, sometimes slow. In this case a right nutter stole a good luck symbol and corrupted it into a symbol of hatred, sad but that's the way it is. And do you really think that trying to tell a WW2 vetran that the swastika is a good luck symbol would go down well? These guys went to war and risked everything, and along comes you who hasn't experienced anything near what they have telling them they are wrong. You're just making a fool out of yourself, sorry.

You'll probably never avoid controversy. But some things you can do:
1) Show it in the proper context, next to other characters in a lithograph of an original Indian inscription, for instance.
2) Fiddle with it so that it's clear it's not a Nazi symbol. Not exactly sure how you do that, but for instance maybe use three legs on it instead of four (and yes, I am aware the Indian version's "feet" run the opposite way from the Nazi version).
Just curious, are you singling out this symbol to use? Why? (question is rhetorical, just wondering, since it probably invites trouble)....

people might not accept the swastika just exactly for the reason you stated since it was used during the occupation and war as a horrible symbol and most people dont know about the aryans so many would become enraged if they saw it
im sorry but i wouldnt buy a cd with a swastika on it no matter how good the music was for my grandma was placed in a death camp then later used as a slave and my grandpa was severely injured in the war

The swastika is not really a good idea .Mostly because of what it represents....That is a symbol of hate...why?because that logo or icon is identified with Hitler.who killed murdered other humanbeings because they were different ...His goal was to wipe out every one who was not Aryan.Hey maybe you have friends from different races..think about it they may not have been around to day if Hitler had his way...Now in your religion you say it means peace but that ...Deep hate for others has already tarnish its image and iand turned it into something so bad.It Mainstream world would give alot of trouble accepting it..because they know what it represents

I can tell from reading the 14 answers given to this point that neither you nor your previous respondents have any clue as to why Adolf Hitler chose the swastika as his desired emblem for his Third Reich. If you did, you'd have your answer. Go read some good history on the Third Reich, and you'll find your answer. Do what you want about using the symbol, but don't blame us for your ignorance. God Bless you.

No, the swastika will never be an accepted symbol in North America or Europe. It will always be associated with Hitler and Nazi Germany. I would suggest finding an alternative.

You'd better wait a couple hundred years yet. People are still living with the tragedies of WWII and even I get off on killing Nazis in the Call Of Duty video game and others. Those bastards deserve whatever we gave them.

Probably not. The mainstream people like to think they're always right, and as far as they know, it's a symbol of nazism. If you're storng enough in your beliefs and culture, I'd say go for it anyway. Use what you believe in and when that gigantic tirade of stupidity comes down on you, let the truth be known.

While some people realize the difference between the two symbols, most people won't. The Nazi image is forever superimposed over the original meaning.
Sorry, but you need to find another symbol.
