This probably isn't what you have in mind but the little town next to where I live has one night a year that they have a "dining with the dead." You have to reserve your spot from one dinner to the next year. They go to a local cemetery and have "dinner" and while they are there, someone dressed in period clothing comes and tells you all about their life before they died. They will stand next to their tombstone so you know who you are listening to.It is like a civil war soldier or someone from long ago. It is really different but real interesting. It's a dinner you will never forget.I have not been able to get my spot yet. I'm sure what they have is more of a "picnic" type meal. I know it sounds strange but it's neat. Of course, she may not appreciate something like this. Our country has a lot of history and this is a great way to explore it. Maybe you can just have a nice picnic style dinner at a local park or if you have a back deck, you can fix dinner and serve her yourself. A candle and a rose add a special touch.

Oh, I don't know, do you mean unusual or exotic? You can try middle eastern food, or Cuban food (which is mostly large quantities of meat) or Thai food for a subtle change from Chinese. Thai curries are very good. I also enjoy Indian (from India) food.
Now if you have a cast iron stomach and aren't afraid of bacteria from steam tables that might not be kept at the right temperature, try a romantic walk in the park and eat hot dogs or other fare from carts. I wouldn't risk it, but some enjoy doing that. Bon appetite!

If you hired a couple of homeless guys to play percussion music on junk metal, while one dressed in a tuxedo you rented served you the finest seafood in an alley on a wide plank resting on two overturned garbage cans. Don't forget the tip or the service will be bad next time.

Ni chi Bi Chi or Sakura--Japanese Steak Houses. They cook the food in front of you--a whole group of strangers sit together around a great big grill thing with a chef doing all kinds of crazy stuff to cook your food. Only drawback is that your clothes need to be laundered after because of all the smoke and stuff.

Try a foreign restaurant. For example, a restaurant with Egyptian theme or a restaurant with morrocan surroundings. These places have foreign music too, and the food is so exotic and unusual.

In summer, have a picnic on the roof watching the sunset. Unusual and romantic!

You could order something to eat and bring it with you!
Take her to a bomb fire.
Take her to a church dinner.
Take her to a drive thru movies.
Take her to skating ring.
Take her to a near by lake and build a little fire, or just throw her in and be done with it!
