they have a cake schedule this season and people are saying they should compete for the title. i think this is crap because hawaii played just as easy a schedule but are like 12th or somthing. i just think they shouldn't be at #3. maybe a top 10 but not top 5.

Hard to say until they loose a game or play a big team. Kansas has been an up and coming team look at their progress over the past four years. Their coach has came in and slowly got this team on the map and just because they are not known for football like basketball doesnt mean they are overated. They have Iowa St who can upset good teams and Missouri which is a top notch team. Then the Big 12 Championship and that will be the gut check for this team. I agree the BCS will never solve the actual problem of a true champion, but right now the top teams are in place to be in the BCS Championship and if LSU wins the SEC they deserve to be there and if Kansas win the Big 12 they deserve to be there. Oregon isn't going to get a chance and what hurts them is that they dont have that Championship and thats going to make them fall back as they are not playing that all important game of the two best of the conference going head to head at their peak and the end of the year. If Oregon is there at #1 or #2 at the end the they deserve to be there, but its going to be tough for them to hold strong idle while a Kansas Oklahoma or Missouri are going against one another in the final 2 weeks in conference game or Championship game. It will sort its self out and if Missouri beats Kansas and Missouri beats Oklahoma they deserve to be there or Oklahoma beats either at the end its should be theirs. Oregon only gets in if LSU slips and looses SEC Championship cause no 2 teams in the same Conference is getting into the BCS Championship.

Even though they have an easy schedule, they are undefeated. I could argue there are a LOT of teams with an easy schedule who haven't done so well. But, I have to agree that they aren't a top 5 team. However, I disagree with Bob about the SEC. The conference isn't as strong this year as last year, but there are close to 10 teams bowl eligible. That's a pretty good number. And, LSU will go to the title game. I just hope they don't meet an undeserving Okla.

Kansas at the first of the year I will say now was underrated. Right now, I won't say they are overrated.. but will say they are unproven against high powered teams. Their test is yet to come. When or if they win out these games.. then,, no,, they were not overrated.. They are for real. They remind me a lot of Kentucky. Looking good winning earlier in the year against teams others thought they would lose... Like they were a top 10 team. Until they got to more stiffer competition.. Then it showed on them..

They do have an easy schedule, but it's not their fault. I'm sure that they had no idea that they would even be considered in National Title mentions. I doubt that they have even considered playing for a Big XII championship.

But they have performed as they should have. They have not slipped yet. They went into hostile venues, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and did not falter.

As for the question as to whether or not they can compete with the big boys, they will have to go through Mizzou and Oklahoma in order to win out. That's a tall order for any team.

Do not expect a weak team to come out.

if they win out they should be in the title game. No matter what your schedule is, if you average almost 46 points a game and give up only 14 your a pretty good football team. They wont get past OU, but they arent overrated.

You can find reasons to call every team over rated. For example, LSU and Oregon are rated higher than Kansas. LSU lost to Kentucky, a lower ranked team. Oregon lost to Cal, a currently unranked team. Oklahoma lost to unranked Colorado. West Virginia lost to currently unranked South Florida. Ohio State lost to then unranked Illinois.

See, you can paint the picture however you want.

Haters.
Have you taken a look at to whom these teams, you would have to say are more deserving after your statement, have lost to and in some cases just how they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory? KU, Like it or not, has passed each test. A claim the others can't make. Hawaii does play conference football and is definitely going to get burned by the BCS (see Boise State 2006), yet the fact remains, Big 12 opponents or WAC opponents, who would you rather your team have to play? Anyone who claims "we'd rather play the Big12 than the WAC" is just arguing for the sake of argument. Hence my primary answer.

Why bother crying over it!?

If they lose to Mizzo or Okla in Big 12 title game things will work themselves out.

But if they win both of those games (unlikely but possible!) then will you still be able to claim they are overrated?
Not if your objective! If you can beat Mizzo and Okla you deserve a BCS title game birth over a 1 lose Oregon or LSU team! 13-0 is 13-0 in any major conference!

We will find out soon enough. They haven't played the toughest schedule but they have to get through Missouri and Oklahoma (2 top 5 teams) to stay undefeated. If they can do that, they deserve a shot... but they wont.

I hope they win out. I think it would be funny and make the BCS ranking system look ridiculous again. They do have a tough game against Missouri and the Big 12 championship (OU). If they win those 2 games, they deserve it. Their last win at OSU was a good game at a tough place to play.
