I just went to the store to buy Photoshop and wow was I surprised at the price of it. Is there a way to get photoshop free by downloading it into my computer. If not does anyone know of a site that I could buy it from that is cheaper and reliable. Which version of photoshop is the best, I want to fix, crop, put borders and be very professional and creative with my pictures. What is the best photo imaging product for me and which version do you suggest I buy if any? Thanks for responding

How about trying Paint Shop Pro. It has a lot of basic features and still have some creative elements to it. From what I have found Photoshop has a big learning curve.

There is a package called Photoshop Elements that I have seen scrapbookers use. I am not familiar with it though, so I do not know how it differs from the original Photoshop software.

Unless you want to do some pretty sophisticated photo work, you don't need PhotoShop. If all you want to do is what you list (i.e. crop, fix, borders), you can download HP Photosmart Essential. It's free and you can do all those things plus fix red-eye. It even has a feature to create album pages from templates.

Maybe you can try download the 30-day trial and figure if there're a lot of features that you need to work with. If not, you can switch to other software but as you know, professional phot editing software cost a bomb. So you can't really compare them with free softwares such as Paint.NET, etc.

You should try GIMP, it is a me-too of Photoshop in Open-Source which means it is totally free legally. GIMP had a companion subproduct call GTK+, for Windows of course.

i only skimmed your question to be honest but you can always try going to like download.com and testing out different programs.(and if you know how look for crack, hacks and serials to keep the ones you like). I like photoshop and MX FireWorks. Photoshop can do nice shadows and stuff and fireworks can make better 3d and flashy photos.
