How do you change -2x + y = -2 to a y = equation?

The computer won't let it show the way i type it. but that -2x is not suppose to be under the y but it is suppose to be under the -2.

-2x + y = -2

add 2x to each side:
-2x + 2x + y = 2x -2

(-2x + 2x = 0)

y = 2x - 2

This is the standard way to write a line equation.
The 2 in 2x indicates that the 'slope' is 2 (whenever x increases by 1, y increases by 2).
The -2 indicates that the line crosses the y-axis at -2 (when x=0, then y=-2)

add 2x to each side of the equation. it will cancel out on the left and be moved to the right. then you are left with y= on the left and you have what y= on the right, just remember in order to move anything for on side of an equation to the next you do the same thing to both sides of the equation and the side the you are moving it from must have the number you are moving canceled out.
