I need to take my new tractor lawn mower to have service at the end of summer. I do not have a trailer for it, and I was planning to use the back of my truck to carry the lawnmower to the dealership. Will the tailgate be strong enough to support the weight of the lawnmower without damaging it? If not, are there ramps for sell that will distribute the weight on the bed of the truck instead of the tailgate? Thanks!

You shouldn't have any problems. One thing to watch out for are those speed bumps or dips in road. That will cause a pretty strong force on the tailgate if you hit them to fast.

One other thing....check to see which end is the heaviest...put that part up in the bed and the lightest on the tailgate.

Put a piece of plywood in the bed of the truck extending out onto the tailgate this would distribute the weight. If most of the weight is in the vehicle it will be just fine.
If your tailgate has cables holding it make sure they are in good shape. If it has metal bars it is fine. The lawn tractor only weighs 250-300 pounds. a couple of people weigh that much or more and I am sure your tailgate would hold that.

i own a sierra and it will support a lawn tractor...just use ramps to get it on...you cant fit a lawn tractor on your truck and haul it with the tailgate closed? if you cant put a 2x10 under each side when you put it on the truck
