My wife and I got married Oct. 11. One week later, she flipped out and went to her mothers saying she doesn't want to be with me anymore. She was 5 weeks pregnant then, she's around 8 weeks now. I thought everything was fine, ever since she's been pregnant, she's been acting like a mad woman, won't talk to me, tells me I'm crazy and obsessive, and has threatened to get a restraining order because I've tried to reconcile with her. She is currently being evaluated by mental health clinic, they think she is severely depressed and possibly bipolar. She claims she's scared of me just because I called a bunch of times when she first left, I was hurt and my anxiety was through the roof. Help, I have no idea what to do, I have never met someone like this, she reminds me of Dr, Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, only the bad part of her has been prevalent for the past 3 weeks!!! Could this be hormones??

Of course it's hormones. She didn't act this way before her pregnancy, otherwise I'm sure you would have left her a long time ago. Some women can't handle the hormones and things like this can happen unfortunately. Leave her alone for the time being, at least until she can get some help and peace of mind. Good luck with everything.

OMG The roller coaster ride of pregnancy hormones. They are not fun. My wife was an OB nurse for 40 yrs. All pg women have some hormone shifts. Some have extreme shifts. Some mental and?or hormonal problems can be triggered by pregnancy. You are on the right track by having her evaluated by mental health. Stick with her thru this. Remember the "for better and for worse, in sickness and in health" part of your wedding ceremony. Well, this is part of the worse and sickness parts. Hopefully it will pass. Good luck to you both.

Ouch! Man, I feel your pain. First off, your question should read, "... she has 'gone' crazy..." But anyway, I not so sure this is entirely due to female hormones. When I got together with my partner Gerald, everything was wonderful, for a while. Then, all of a sudden, he started, calling me Mary and things went downhill fast. I'm just saying, realtionships are complicated, but real love will get you through. Wishy-washy love won't... Good luck (poor bastard).

Give her space and take care of yourself. It may be hormones and it could be the bipolar disorder. It doesn't matter. You can only take care of yourself. Consider seeing a dr yourself. If you have anxiety there are things you can take to help it. It sound to me like you are in for a wild ride regardless of whether or not you get back together. Best wishes to both of you and your baby.

during pregnancy a set of hormones gets released in the woman's body, the hormones often cause other chemicals to arise and active other parts of the brain that stimulate protection and much more careful behavior. this usually also releases a chemical called "dopamine" the use of too much dopamine will cause behaviors such as schizophrenia. she could have that. glad she is getting help.

best thing to do is not keep in touch with her but keep in touch with her mother and the doctors, and until they say you can see her go and see her. dont force yourself in though, just keep tabs with the doctors.

i really hate to say this but she sounds crazy because hormones don't make you act like that 1 month into the pregnancy. stay away for your own good and pray for the baby

You need to give her and her doctors some space and and let them try and figure out her issues. Just offer your support and back off.
