Wet clutch just means it turns inside the engine and is exposed to engine oil. Most modern bikes have wet clutches as their drive and action is quieter. Multiplate just means that there are a number of drive and driven plates within the clutch stack, usually 6 to 8.

Multi Plate Clutch

Here's why.

A motorcycle needs a very compact clutch. Ones with several alternating plates (drive and driven) can be smaller. The smaller clutch develops a lot of heat, so putting it in the oil helps carry the heat away.

The only thing I can add is, with multiple clutch plates, there is more surface area of contact, giving more area of clutch to lock up for transfer of power.

What Steve suggested. Plus, the moist multi-plate is way less in all possibility to expend from warmth because it is oil cooled. The clutches on maximum handbook transmission automobiles and automobiles is desperate by making use of air cooling the disc and rigidity plate and is extra companies to expend if slipped too plenty.

GB is right on.....and since you are new to wet clutch motors....make sure you DON'T use any STP or similar lubricants that are real slick.....it ruins the clutch.
