I currently feed him Beech Nut. But he is ready for 3rd foods and there is a small selection my store. Gerber has a wider variety of foods to choose from. Can I feed him both brands?

Feeding him different brands is a great idea. Every company has a little different recipe for their foods. Feeding him different brands is a way to help him discover different taste and texture. For instance the noodles in Stage 3 spaghetti is different in Gerber than it is in Natures Goodness. Just give him each new food one at a time, just like you did when he first began eating solids incase the new brand has a different ingredient that his body may not be able to handle.

There is absolutely no danger in switching back and forth between brands. My own children ate Gerber, Beech Nut, Heinz, as well as pureed food from my own kitchen.

Yes! My children liked some foods from Beech Nut and some from Gerber. So pick what you (and he) thinks is the yummiest.

How did babys live when there was no gerber 100 years ago?

Stone age tribes feed babies bugs. I know trique in mexico that use water with chile in it to feed the baby with. They dont even know what Gerber is, and most of their babies make it through infancy.

You can mix baby foods. At worst your kid will not like it.

yes you can switch brands
when introducing new foods to a baby the concern is the new food and reactions to it, the brand doesn't matter
make sure to introduce one new one at a time so that if there is a reaction then you will know what caused it
(by reaction i mean stomach/bowel probs or allergy type)

I would go ahead and try it and make sure he is digesting it good. I never had a problem with changing the brand of foods it is formula that you dont want to change around if you are using it. GL

Instead of wasting more money on baby food, if he is ready for 3rd foods, make your own. It is healthier because you know exactly what is in it. I used my Braun stick blender with the attachments to blend up foods for my son. At around 9 months I started giving him diced boiled carrots, peas, chunks of boiled potatoes that he could pick up with his fingers. He loved being able to feed himself.

Of course!!!

You can feed him anything you like. Even though if he's ready for "stage 3," he's ready for table foods that you feed to the rest of your family.

To appease a baby you should always give them several brands of baby food. I like Cap'n Crunch.
