Justified how? And what do you mean by "collegiate psychology"?

If you mean, "Is a college level psych class worth taking?", the answer is yes. It can give you a basic understanding of human behavior, assuming you pay attention and study.

Take an economics class, too. It'll give you some understanding of how capitalism works, and you may just be able to use the information to make some money.

Assuming you pay attention and study.

Yes.
I had 4 years of it as my major. Went into medical school with an "unconventional" (in their perspective) pre-med and came out all the better for it (better interaction with patients, plus I can keep quiet and give all my insights into a person afterwards on what makes him/her tick). I'm planning on entering a residency program in Psychiatry. Again, psychiatry with a twist. I never really forgot my psychology training.
Besides, it could be fun.

I'm a psyc major and about to graduate in December. I love it -- gonna spend 5 more years studying it to get a Ph.D.

I think its definitely good to at least have a basic understanding of humans think.
