I drove home from school in my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 (Good Condition) and I put it in park for about 10 minutes while i got a drink and cecked some stuff. When i came back out to leave, I put it in reverse and the car started shaking and My first thought was that one of the tires were flat or something. After I checked and there was nothing wrong with it, I put it in drive and left and then it reallllly started to shake right around 40-50 MPH. Then when you let off the gas, it rides smooth, but when you give it gas it shakes like crazy. I took it to the dealer this way, and they said that i needed to leave it there over night. The problem is that I have to go to school in the morning, and the Truck is my only ride. I am wondering if anyone knows whats wrong and how long you think it will take to fix it.

Just a guess, but maybe a broken engine mount.

Thanks

Did the car ever have its timing belt changed? It might be due- it might be overdue. When an engine jumps timing a few notches it will bog down when you try to accellerate, but idle like it's almost OK. When you put a timing light on it the ignition timing will be wrong too if the cam belt slipped. Resetting the ignition timing, in this case, will make things worse, until it jumps a few more teeth and won't run at all. First check the spark plugs. They should be dry and light gray or brown, not black, sooty or wet.and certainly not carboned up with crud. Their gap should be not wider than specification.

I think the problem is you need to leave your vehicle with them. Or would you rather walk halfway to school from where your car (truck ?) drops a driveshaft.

their are a few different possibilites being that maybe one of your engine mounts are broken or your truck could be misfiring or it could just be a loose part
