I went to urban outfitters and bought some cloths and a belt. I noticed the total was unusually high and when I checked the recipe today I found out the girl charged me for two belts! The belts are $40 a piece and for a college students that not anything to sneeze at. Has anyone experienced this before, and Is there anyway to resolve this with the store without them assuming I'm thieving a belt?

All input is greatly appreciated.

I actually work at a retail store, what you do is first call up the store that you bought the belt at. Ask to speak to the manager then explain to them what happened. Tell them that you would like to come in and get a refund for the overcharged belt. If you tell them what happened usually they are understanding. If they give you a hard time ask to speak with the district manager/ get there number and then usually they will give you your money back.

i would call the store or go in and talk to the manager. Usually I have a good idea about what I am buying and how much it costs. I happened to catch an odd transaction the other day at the J. Crew outlet. I knew I had about $80 worth of stuff and the cashier was like that will be $125. I was asked if she was sure...and sure enough, had double charged me for something.

Best bet in your case is try and go back to the store.

Maybe just maybe management will be able to verify your story against the store inventory. If they see that only 1 extra belt is missing from their inventory but you were charged for 2 you may stand a chance of getting your money back. Ask them if there's anyway for them to check their inventory, if they give you a hard time. Good luck.

call customer service. See if they can not refund you the money. All transactions are usually scanned in the computer system at each store. If it shows two of the same item scanned. Its an error on part of the person ringing up your purchases. All items have a bar code. All items have a identifying number as to what they are. So, you should be able to get your money back. Keep all receipts for future references on purchases of any merchandise. Let me know if they refund you.... Hope you are doing Well.

You should go back to the store and confront them.

They might not listen to you, but it's worth a try.

I understand your anger.

I once bought a shirt from American Eagle and was charged for two, but luckily I caught it right then and there.

Well I would personally think that an extra 40.00 on my total would have caused some concern at the counter.

You paid and left. You are probably screwed.

Hmmm, that might be a tough one but its really worth a shot to go back and talk to the sales person.. Maybe they will believe you... Good luck.
