I am learning about him and I need to know things on his early childhood, his adulthood, and his special honors awards and events.

What better way to learn about this incredible person by reading his own autobiography? If you want to read something more specific about his leadership as a Civil War general or his campaigns, there are several other books worth reading too.

p.s. southerners still slander his name today - since he defeated the Confederate armies in battle after battle.

I know he failed at many businesses, drank to excess, was personally irresponsable. Graduated near the bottom of the class at West Point, at times during the Struggles (civil war- for the union sympathizers) they had to bring his wife in to keep him sober before major battle campaigns.
