It all depends on your opinion. Since you are asking the question in the past tense, I assume this is a question about the fairness of the Constitution in the earlier days.

Back in the early 17 and 1800's, if you were rich and white, the Constitution seemed pretty fair. Like I said, it all depends on your interpretation.

In my opinion the U.S. constitution is fair. Firstly, we have a bicameral legislative branch, meaning that there are two houses in Congress. There is the Senate which is composed of 100 Congressmen and the House of Representatives composed of 435 men. The House of Representatives favors and voices the opinion of the people , while the Senate ensures equal representation among the states regardless of size. There are unclear portions to the Constitution; however, checks and balances helps prevent tyranny and the abuse of powers. The U.S. Constitution also provides for amendments and the Bill of Rights which gurantee individual rights. Amendments also give people the power to change the way our government runs. With the U.S. Constitution there is a balance of power between the people and the government which provides for our Democracy.

So, to answer your question, the fairness of the Constitution depends on your interpretation. Personally, I feel that the Constitution does its best to ensure liberty and protect the people of America.

I think that all things considered, it was fair AT THE TIME, and it's framers knew it would have to be changed and adjusted in the future. So in their wisdom they made provisions for adjustments. I truly think that is why it is such a wonderful document beginning such a great country.

Hm. Considering that it protected the slave trade till 1808, I'd have to say unfair.

"Just a goddamn piece of paper." - someone once said.

Looking at the state of affairs, I agree.
