Percent change for anything is:
(Final-Initial)/Initial * 100.
for example:
1200-800=400
400/800=.5
.5*100=50%
hope that helps :)

Find the difference between the two numbers and find how much that difference is in the original number.
IE: 1200-800=400
400=.5*800
1.5*800=1200
.5 is the same as 50 percent so you're seeing a 50 percent change.
1800-800=1000 {which means you have over 100% increase and this number will be added to 100}
1000-800=200
200=.25*800
1800 is 225% of 800, minus the original 100% given by our 800 and we have 125% increase.

1. Always find the numeric difference between the two numbers first. In example 1: 1200 minus 800 [your base number] equals 400.
2. The, divide the answer by the base number. [400 divided by the 800 base number equals .50, or 50%. So 1200 is 50% larger than 800.]
In second example, use absolute numbers: 800 minus 1800 = 1000. Then 1000 is divided by the 800 base number= 1.25. $1800 is a 125% change from 800. [Remember, a 100% difference means the base figure has DOUBLED ]

Hello,
We need to subtract the two number then divide by the original number.
So 1200 - 800 = 400 then since we started with 800 we have 400/800 = 1/2 or 50% increase.
1800 - 800 = 1000 since we started with 800 we have 1000/800 = 1.25 or 125% increase.
Hope This Helps!

1) % change from $800 to $1200
=(1200-800)/800
= 400/800
=0.5 (to change to a percentage, multiply by 100)
= 50%
2) % change from $800 to $1800
=(1800 - 800)/800
= 1000/800
=5/4
=1.25 (to change to a percentage, multiply by 100)
=125%

use a proportion and it would be p over 100 equals 800 over 1200. then you solve thr proportion by multiplying 100 by 800 and 1200 by p. then you divide your product and 1200p by 1200. then it would be p=#%. then subtract the number you get for p from 100
then do the same for the other, im pretty sure you just had a typo with the percent sign.

I think, don't trust me 100%, but...
You could subtract 800 from 1200- which is $400, and then find the percent of 400 from 1200- (this is gonna look kinda weird)
x 400
____ = ____
1200 100
So going clockwise, theres a trick (u can use it for any percent problems)
What (x) is (=) 400%( 400 over 100) of(=)1200??
and then the same with the other!
i hope it helped. =) !

1200-800=400
400/800=50%
typo error assumption is 800 to 1800
then 1800-800=1000
1000/800=125%
