Gas is over $3.00 a gallon, milk is more then $3 a gallon, if the minimum wage kept pace with inflation since the 70's it would be $17 an hour. When did we become corporate slaves? With all these temp agencies controling all the jobs how is someone supposed to get ahead? Start a new job then 89 days later "Oh we're sorry we don't need you anymore". I have bills to pay I can not affrod to swing from job to job, so therefore I am stuck at my under valued job. What is wrong with us?! I say we over throw the big business government, and go back to the ideals our founding fathers had. The only way the "workers" will ever be free is if we free oursleves, but we have to do it together. Come on people join together

chocolahoma is part of the problem!!! if milk was 2.69 last year and this year it is 3.49 the is an increase of nearly 30%!! Do you think your little 2.5% raise covers that? Also I have have gotten let go on the 89th day but I do see how my company treats there temps. I am hired in and they treat me like garbage! The whole job market is messed up, because our great nation has allowed all the good jobs to go oversea's. I bet chocolahoma is not happy either with his staffing that he does, because the government is hip deep into his pockets. I did not allow things to get as bad as they are and I an far better person they you give me credit for. The eniviroment plays a huge part into how well someone does, this applies to the job market as well, and lets face it things could be a lot better. We are getting ripped off in every direction because people LET IT HAPPEN.

I'd suggest you try harder once placed by a temp agency to let the Mangers etc be aware you are interested in a full time permanent position. Be as direct as you can, and don't tell the agency. The agency is making money from you, and cares less if you have to jump from one company to the next, as you are just a pawn in their game. Turn the tables, and take control. Use your temp assignments to learn new skills, and with more skills comes more opportunities.

Blame the company. Blame the temp agency. Blame the government. Blame the voters. There can't possibly be anything about YOU that is contributing to your problem?

You either don't have the skills an employer is looking for, or you are providing these employers with some evidence that you would not be worth the time and energy required to keep you.

Check your attitude. Check your skills.

I manage small staff, and I can tell you this. The only ones who get dropped on day 89 are the ones who call in sick every Monday, cause errors that cost me money, and generally do their job in a substandard manner.

(BTW-- if the minimum wage was $17/hour, a loaf of bread would cost $18.00, and a lunch Value Meal would be $20.00...)

With your attitude, you wouldn't work 89 days for me. You'd be told " we'll call if something comes up" about 89 seconds into the interview.
With your negative attitude, i couldn't afford to give you the opportunity to poison the atmosphere in my office.

Someone almost in the sama situation as you. He was not allowed to retire and was replaced to hire someone for cheaper pay. It was Wal-Mart.
