keep in mind how easy it is for him to get comfortable with the level of effort you put out, without receiving anything back from him. He likes your attention, even if he never returns it. Why should he return the effort, if he gets all your reassurance and effort without trying?
Try backing off. If you've been working to get him back, and he hasn't been responding, then, try giving him a break. He might realize that he was enjoying your attention more than he thought, and he misses it when it's gone. After a while he'll probably realize that you meant more to him than he gave you credit for.
The only problem is, sometimes it takes guys a long time to figure this out. And in the meantime, it's so stressful to sit back and wait, powerless to encourage things in the right direction.

You don't get him back. You move on. Time will heal any kind of pain. I f he wants to be friends, that's what he wants. Trying to latch on will only get you hurt. Plus he'll probably leave you again if he finds any thing better.

Do something HE likes. Go to a basketball game with him, or skateboarding, what ever HE likes. He probably just misses his old identity he had before he met you.

well ive been down that road its hard but you need to let him go and someone told me to do this with my ex and i said i understood but i still did it my way which ended me up with a broken heart i no it hurts but one he will guestion what if? what if? but you should find someone who wants to be with you the way you want to be with them thats what you deserve
