There are a ton of things that are recommended for morning sickness:

*Keep crackers or bread next to your bed and have her eat a couple nibbles before sitting up.

*Ginger (Ginger root is best, but you can also try ginger ale and ginger snaps)

*Peppermint/Cinnamon-Peppermint hard candy and Cinnamon gum

*Sour hard candy-lemonheads, sour jolly ranchers, etc.

*Pedialyte Popsicles-they have electrolytes in them which will help fight dehydration but since they're frozen she doesn't have to put a lot in her stomach at once and it helps keep it down.

*Limit or exclude dairy products, fried foods, spicy foods, and foods with a lot of citrus.

In addition to those food choice options you can also make some lifestyle changes like:

*Eat more frequent, smaller meals. Sometimes being overly full or overly hungry can contribute to morning sickness. Try to eat either very small meals (a couple of pieces of toast and a couple of brooccli sprouts) every 2 hours or slightly bigger, or small meals (like half a BLT or a bowl of soup) every 4 hours.

*Get lots of sleep. Overexursion and exhaustion can contribute to morning sickness.

*Drink lots of fluids....orange juice with calcium added if you can stand it, but at the very least water. Don't drink too much (you'll get water logged and probably barf) but constantly keep some liquids by your side. You'll need them if you are throwing up a lot, and they can also keep your stomach calm...er.

Generally, morning sickness will go away around 12 weeks, so you've only got about 4 weeks until then!

Keep in mind though, that constant violent vomiting could be a sign of hyperemesis gravidum (severe and chronic morning sickness) and you may need to be hospitalized to get IV fluids and nutrients. This can last through your entire pregnancy, and it sucks bad but you can survive it! I've had hyperemesis with both of my kids (until almost 8 months with my son and it's still going strong with this one!) and they're both healthy even if I am a wreck.

Keep an eye out for dizziness, headaches, extreme fatigue, and weakness as they can all be signs of dehydration. If you're not able to hold down *anything* [liquid or solid] for 72 hours go into the ER.

Don't worry-even hyperemsis (if treated through IV fluids and nutrients) isn't dangerous for your baby. They'll take what they need directly from mommy whether she eats or not! It only serves to you miserable. Eventually it'll get better though and you will have your beautiful baby! Congrats on your little one!

I had horrible afternoon and evening sickness when pregnant with my daughter - mornings I felt great!

The only thing I found that really helped was oil of wintergreen (smelling it, not ingesting it). I found this out be accident when a massage therapist used some on me. After that, I'd rub a bit on my neck whenever I felt nauseous and the aroma would settle things down.

Crackers are good for when you're hungry, but too nauseous to eat 'real' food. A lot of people suggest saltines, but they never worked for me - animal crackers did the trick, though. Experiment with different types to see what works for you.

The sickness should go away at about 3 months. Until then, eat well when you can. Good luck!

I'm sorry you are experiencing bad morning sickness, I'm 39 wks pregnant and I'm on heavy medication for morning sickness still. To be honest, it really depends on the woman and how long it will last. With some people it only last the first trimester and others it can last all the way up until the due date. I would try small meals, drinking plenty of fluids, try crackers before getting out of bed in the morning, and getting plenty of rest. If those don't work I would talk to your doctor about medication. I hope that helps....good luck!

I went through the same thing with my pregnancy's.
One good thing about the extreme morning sickness is that
the you have enough hormones to make the pregnancy viable. Meaning you aren't in danger of early miscarriage.

First of all you need to keep some simple food in your stomach. The more you throw up the less nutrition you have for yourself and the baby. Try this. If you wake up during the night be sure that you have some saltine crackers at your bedside to nibble on. Rinse them down with some water.
When you wake up in the morning do the same thing..
You need to slowly add food to your stomach and try avoid the throwing up.

Morning sickness if horrible if you have it to an extreem. It is real and you are not making a big deal out of it.

If you have it just in the morning you are fortunate. I had it morning noon and night. And never really went away....it wasn't as bad after the first trimester. I never threw up but my stomach was easily upset.

You might have to cut back on spicy foods. And stick to more bland foods. Eat plenty of vegtables & fruit. Also lots of water.
This will be good for both you and your baby.
Don't put yourself in a position where you set your self up for getting sick. For instance, I wouldn't advice that you open up a can of tuna. Ask someone else to open the can.

Hang in there this nausea will pass and your body will deliever a beautiful baby & all that nausea is nothing compared to that little miricle in your arms

Ginger (I like the candied/crystalized stuff, or the pickled ginger you get at Asian restaurants)
Sour candies (life savers sours were great for me--sucked 'em on the train. I hope you don't have to ride a full commuter train!)
Nantucket Nectars pomegranate pear drink was about all I could drink in the mornings. (Yeah, I know--tons of sugar. But at least it was liquid!)

Some people find those motion sickness wrist bands helpful. I think they're called SeaBands or something. Did diddly squat for me, though. And crackers were no use at all. It's different for everyone.

Should go away at the end of your first trimester, but some unlucky souls have it their whole pregnancy.

Oh, and take your prenatal vitamins with food--they didn't upset my stomach as much when I took them at dinner time, instead of in the morning.

I have been dealing with morning sickness that lasts all day :(
so I know how you feel. It was not like this with my son. I eat really small meals. Lots of ginger ale (sometimes I add grenadine to make a Shirley Temple, yum!). The doc can also call you in some nausea meds if need be. Hope it goes away soon!

Morning sickness begins around week 6 of pregnancy, peak during week 8 or 9 and wane after week 13.The main cause of morning sickness is a combination of issues related to the chemical changes your body is going through. you're almost there sweety, you will probably get it for another month and it usually slows down or completely stops by 12-16 weeks.
Have you tried taking "Morning Sickness Formula" - that got me through. Also, saltine crackers that alot of women recommend, before you even get out of the bed. Have it next to you and have one of two before getting up.
Try to have dry toast, and water. Please do not forget - your baby will get hungry if you cant keep anything down, so, usualyl bread or saltine crackers will go down without making you want to puke.

definately try the morning sickness formula - which contains ginger and vitamin b6 i think.

if not, can you ginger on its own, or in form of a tea or something like that.
Ginger definately helps....
good luck and hang in there, ts almost over

You do not have to tell me how hard it is. I also am havening the same problem with that but my doctor told me to use crackers and I keep them beside my bed. When you are eating something try to only take small drinks of whatever you are drinking. Drinking while eating is what always got me sick. (NO i don't mean alcohol either. ) I am almost 4 months and for the first three months I could hardly eat anything because of the sickness. You can ask your doctor for help with you feeling ill all the time. also, they can help with medication to calm it.
