Texas stands out from the rest as the conservative one. It's also the only really southern place, so if you're a right winger, you'd probably enjoy Texas most. The Northeastern states are all fairly liberal, rather busy and well-educated, competitive, and expensive. They have cold winters and springs. California has a lot of variety and beauty, though it's also expensive and liberal. Myself, I'd pick California, but not just anywhere. It would start with San or Santa, though.
