My fix/six month pregnant friend is having trouble staying up for her classes. Are there any foods that would help her stay awake, safe the unhealthy alternatives like caffeine, which are bad for her unborn baby?

Any other pro-pregnancy food recommendations are good too.

Thanks.

Tell her to make sure she is saying hydrated. Water is a huge fatigue fighter. Eating often helps too. She should carry around baby carrots, celery sticks, yogurt, crackers w/ pasturized cheese etc. Eating lots of small meals instead of 3 meals will help.

I have been exhausted, too. But if she thinks she's getting more tired than what would be expected she should call her ob office. A phone call never hurts and talking to a nurse for five minutes might give her the info she needs.

These links might help, too

If she is sooooo tired that she can't stay awake to go to school, and she is taking all the steps she can: going to bed early enough at night, eating right, getting enough fluids in her system, etc, then she should go see her doctor. She may have a nutrition issue that needs to be addressed, or she may have some issues with her blood sugar. She should really cover all her bases here.

I'm going through the same thing, concieving a baby is no easy task, it requires energy. She should just go to bed early and take as many naps as she can. I have to take 10 minute naps in the bathroom at the office.

ell her to sleep all she can right now, cause she won't be sleeping again until her baby is 35.
