AWW... I was all ready to answer your question until I clicked and read "for a reasonable price" in the fine print! Bellagio is the best CASINO hotel ON THE STRIP for any price. There are better hotels without casinos (The Four Seasons) or off the strip.
But if you want a good balance of price and quality, consider MGM Grand or Treasure Island.
If you want cheap, look at the Riviera or Stratosphere.

It really depends on your price range and taste. Bellagio and MGM Grand are really nice, and expensive. Same with Cesars. Parisian is nice and just a little less. My personal choice taking money into consideration is The Flamingo. Its great and less expensive than those previously mentioned (around $100 to $150 a night depending on days and room type). It has a huge casino, nice restaurants and other stuff. I'd check out their websites. Look at Expedia, Travelocity and Orbits for the best prices then call the Flamingo, they have a best price guarantee (a lot of hotels do) and will beat those website's prices. The Luxor is pretty nice, although I've never stayed there I've visited. Its cheaper than the Flamingo, too. Excalibur is also cheaper, some of their rooms are renovated and I would stay in those, not the non renovated rooms. But it has the whole midevil theme going, so if you're not into that.....Avoid the Stratosphere and Circus Circus, they both suck.

First of all, Jan 1-3 is a very cheap time to go. Everybody is going back to work then (the holiday season just ended). If you are looking for good packages you should check out teh usual websites
- Travelocity.com
- Expedia.com
also try
- i4vegas.com
There are many others. Just get as many as you can.
Also, visit each hotel directly and see what deals they are offering. You should also sign up for their e-newsletter. Many hotels send out e-mail only deals. The hotels are very good about not spamming you. You may get one e-mail every few weeks from them. And since many hotels are owned by a parent company, the e-mail you will get is often an e-mail for offers from every casino in their company. So it is possible to get on 4 or 5 e-mail lists and be getting e-mail offers from 15-20 hotels, all while only getting one e-mail a week.
And it does sounds crazy in this age of the internet, but go to a local travel agent that specializes in Vegas vacations. There are travel agencies that will buy a block of rooms and a block of airline seats at a bulk discount and then resell them at a price lower than what you could get on your own. Although sometimes you can find better deals on your own.
Check with the hotels, check the airlines, check the travel websites, and check with your travel agents. Go with the best deal.
As for the best hotel, well the best hotels are the Wynn, Bellagio, Caesars, and Venetian. They are also the most expensive.
Some of the better ones are Mirage, TI, Monte Carlo, MGM, New York New York, Planet Hollywood, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay. They are more expensive, but you can find deals there if they are unusually slow. Expect to pay $100-$150 a night.
Some of the cheaper places are Imperial Palace, Circus Circus, Stratosphere, and the Riviera. Some people like them, some do not. These places always offer good deals, but the rooms are a bit hit and miss. Things seem to go wrong at those hotels more often. If you just want a place to rest your head, then stay at one of these places. I would suggest Imperial Palace because the location is excellent and they have the best Craps dealers in town (if Craps is your game). Expect to pay $50-$80.
I would also suggest looking at the Tropicana. It is near the far south end of the strip, they offer good deals, but it is clearly not one of the newer places on the strip. They offer their best rates through e-mails.
It is tough to say what would be best because people have different expectations. If you just want a place to rest you head, then get one of the cheaper rooms. If you want a place that offers more than just a bed, spend a few more buck and stay at Tropicana, Harrahs, Flamingo, or Ballys. But keep your eyes open as there will probably be a few nicer places offering great deals.

Well... for a reasonable price... How much is that? The strip is not cheap anywhere now.
The best value per dollar, I think is the Venetian. Great (Bellagio/Wynn quality at 100-200/night less than them) rooms with ridiculous bathrooms. Really nice casino and good food (Postrio... mmmm....). It's definitely pricey though. 229/night is cheap for this property.
For a mid-grade hotel, Harrah's is perfect. It's center-strip location is easy walking distance to all the good spots. The hotel is nice, but not luxurious and the casino is fun.
The Luxor is a little cheaper and is more luxury-oriented (on par with TI and NY-NY), but is way on the south end of the strip. The only that's close is Mandalay Bay and NY-NY. It's a heck of a walk to center-strip.
If you could care less about room quality, then Imperial Palace is the way to go. It's a low-rent, but pretty fun casino. It's location is prime and the prices are way cheap.
TI, Mirage, Paris, Bally's, and NY-NY are all nice places to stay, but usually fairly pricey for what you get.
The Vegas Hilton is nice and priced well, but is pretty far from everywhere else on the Strip. However, it's got a monorail stop, so it's not too bad to get around.
Planet Hollywood and Monte Carlo suck for the price. Sahara, Stratosphere, and Circus are all on the north end of the strip (shitty neighborhood), but are all cheap for what you get.
Haven't checked the latest rates myself, but I go quite a bit (usually off season) and for my money:
> 300/night: Bellagio
200-300/night: Venetian
150-200/night: TI
100-150/night: Harrah's
<100/night: Imperial Palace (or stay off the strip)

On a recent trip, I enjoyed the Flamingo. I know it is a older hotel, but the accommodations were nice & it is centrally located in the middle of the strip. We could see the Bellagio fountains from our hotel room!! Without the Bellagio price!!!

an much less severe priced hotel genuine on the edge of the strip is Hooters. a super fee and it incredibly is incredibly as a innovations to stroll to the strip as staying on the MGM Grand. on the Strip Excalibur has some deals. If occurring a weekend you will pay complete fee for rooms and not come across any low fee expenditures.

The question is, how much time do you plan to say in your hotel room. Most people spend very little time in their hotel room. Here are the deals you can get for the winter:
Orleans from $18 /night, Gold Coast from $18 /night, Hard Rock from $58 /night, Palms from $69 /night
http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/special.html
As far as flights are concerned, check Southwest airlines vacation, or Priceline.com
Remember to book early. Also try to combine flight+hotel for a discount.

I think you get the most for your money at The Flamingo. It's right there in the middle of everything on the strip and not that expensive.
