Addie has $2.15 in her change purse, consisting of nickels, dimes and quarters. If she has twice as many nickels as quarters and one less dime than quarters, how many of each type of coin does she have?

add those up and you get $2.15

215 = 5N + 10D + 25Q; N = 2Q; D = Q-1

215 = 5(2Q) + 10(Q-1) + 25Q

215 = 45Q -10

Q = 5 So, N = 10; D = 4
