I've been told that I need help not serious but help and I actually saw a counselor twice but all she did was sit and listen to me talk. I said to myself well heck I can talk to my best friend and she listens to me just like this woman. I never saw the point of it so I didn't go back. LOL. She agreed with everything I said too. I thought that was weird. I mean who agrees with everything someone else says?

couple of times.
ah! ha!

when I saw the shrink .. na not that helpful over time. But it did open my eyes. and he had some meds that I think messed me up.

I saw a counselor for awhile a few years later. It was a way to talk about things I would not have otherwise. I guess that was helpful.

About 3 years ago I asked my doc for an anti depressant .. it helped but my sex drive tanked and I got cocky and lost my job . which was terribly depressive.

On another occasion a few years ago I was on an a vegan diet and that made me feel like "chicken little" like the sky was falling in and all my troubles seemed maginified:

A friend noticed how odd I sounded on the phone.. 2oz or more of animal protean cured that in about 3 days. but due to poverty and inclination I experimented off and on for a year. I do best with about 4oz or more meat or cheese daily.

Yes by an enraged mad man that wasn't making any sense in his rantings..................

I'm sorry................

If you think you may need some outside help, by all means go get some. There is no shame in needing help, more so in doing nothing to seek any. Everyone needs that extra boost in some way now and then. We should all feel as good and happy as possible, so go for the help if you think you may need some and the person saying it wasn't just being mean.

I think if you find the right person for you it can definately help. Make sure you feel right with the person you find and if not keep looking until you do.

Yes and I did see a counselor. It was a condition to my probation. My P.O. got me in touch with an excellent Psychiatrist and in a good Mental Health system. It was extremely helpful. I know how to deal better with every day problems. I don't turn to drugs and alcohol to get away from my problems any more. I face them and take care of them in a appropriate way.

I am no longer in the Mental Health system and am doing very well.

I see a psychiatrist 4 times a year, and get my stash each time.
The counselor just talks everyday stuff: How's the weather? What day is it? What year is it? Who is the US president?
You know, just to make sure you're not overly 'medicated'.

I worked Psych. nursing for a number of years and it could be a locked unit depending on the population and I was so sure that one day they would take away my keys and keep me there!!
Honestly..I am glad there was a place for folks to come to when they could not deal with their problems safely at home. I also think we really did help.

Yes, even when I was small. I use to cry everyday and was a crybaby. I eventually grew out of it and became more defensive about myself. That's why I act more like a tomboy than a feminine girly girl (i'm a girl)
