They have to work out the situation at third base. If they sign Lowell, that gives them extra flexibility for moves.
In other words, they can trade Crisp for a third baseman (Blalock) if they don't have Lowell. A deal for a first baseman is also possible, as Youkilis can move to third. If they keep Lowell, Crisp can go for a reliever and prospects.
They lost some bench players in people like Kielty, and probably will need another bullpen pitcher or two. A new backup catcher might be in the cards; Mirabelli could be close to done.
Otherwise, the team needs some depth.

a million. Are you satisfied that Theo has chosen to no longer make any drastic strikes? No. the recent Steinbrenners have shown that they are prepared to open up the checkbook and could sign and sign and sign as many suitable-notch gamers as they'd. Theo should be waiting to compete and meaning getting adult men like Halladay/Holliday & Bay/Gonzalez in the event that they grow to be obtainable. there continues to be quite some time to make those strikes, and if the Sox do no longer make some substantial strikes to advance, they're going to be looking up on the Yankees returned. 2. would you be ok if the sell out chain is broken quicker or later interior the 2010 season? It won't take place, barring any problems with Fenway Park itself. yet who cares, truly? we don't pass to video games for the ambience, we choose for the product on the sector. and doubtless much less persons on the previous ballyard will provide me some greater leg room. 3. would you even pass as a ways to declare which you would be satisfied if the pink Sox weren't that sturdy this year and you'd be satisfied that the bandwagon fell off? i'd like to ascertain the pinkhats disappear, yet, as greater time passes, the pinkhats have become greater knowledgable. it truly is like they are 5 years previous now. possibly we can prepare them the thank you to ascertain (a scorecard) this summer season.

Here are the moves
1. 3rd base (hopefully Lowell, or Tejada, Cabrera or ARod)
2. starting pitcher (you can't have too much pitching) getting Santana would be sweeeeet
3. solid setup guy (to help Okajima)
4. backup catcher who can contribute a little with the bat (is Kottaras ready yet?)
another possibility would be to move Youk to 3rd and get someone like Sean Casey (who has a career .366 OBP, but has seen his power numbers shrink to nothing ) for 1B. I think this is a bad idea, but it's a possibility.
I can't see them getting Blalock, because he's not their type of hitter (poor OBP, strikes out a lot, power numbers waning), but he's a steal if they can get him straight up for Coco, and both guys need a change of scenery.
