I tried a new sushi restaurant near my house today. I had an order of sushi and a salad. At the end of my meal, the server brought me 2 frozen purple grapes. Is there a specific reason for that?

I think you guys are misunderstanding me. I was actually really impressed with the restaurant. I am just asking because I had never been served frozen fruit at a restaurant before.

they brought you the frozen grapes to "cleanse the palate," in preparation for whatever you may eat next. it's not about being "foreign," it's about being "upscale." Many many restaurants do this, no matter what the cuisine is. SIGH.

p.s., frozen grapes are awesome.

Because in a lot of Chinese and Japanese restaurants , they serve fruits because it is their tradition to eat fruits every day at a time you are eating. Or maybe it is good for your health.
Even if you got to any restaurant related to chinese , they will surely seve you any fruit.
