And I thought if Guitar Hero introduces kids to classic rock, maybe a Violin Hero would introduce kids to classical music.

What do you think?

Feel free to laugh at me :0)

Cowbell hero! YAY!

Anyway, that would be pretty cool. Violin Hero, Piano Hero... maybe even Oboe Hero!

I wish that there was something more classical in the karaoke video games. All I've been able to find are covers of Top 40s of the past three years and J-Pop. I think Schubert's Ave Maria would be a nice addition. :D

Hahaha I used to play violin. I was first chair in our county youth symphony, actually. I haven't touched the violin in years now though. I think a Keyboards Hero would be better than Violin Hero at introducing people to classical music though. I used to take private lessons for both violin and piano (and guitar, but I sucked so I'm not going to start on that), and we played a lot of movie tunes for violin, like Colors Of The Wind and Beauty And The Beast and also a lot of Beach Boys songs. And for piano, it was more JS Bach, Handel, Chopin, Burgmuller, Kabalevsky, etc. Or maybe it was just my instructors. Hmm.

I'm not going to laugh at all, since I've been thinking for a long time that it could be an interesting idea. If Bellamy from Muse is able to play rock music on piano, why not to try to use violin for the same purpose? I think it would sound great, unusual, and the world of music needs something new, otherwise it risks to become boring.

ROFL and i laugh because its what should be out on the martket. its pretty sad when kids can respect music today but not learn from the REAL classics. i mean honestly, who in the end does all the inspiration really fall to? perhaps if they made a model for a younger age it would start to come back in the next few generations. guitars are vastly overrated anyway. everyone and anyone plays them now a days. its nothing special. a 'guy in the band' is pretty much every guy out on the street.

That would have to be Violin & Fiddle Hero!

Then it could include some of the best Celtic and Folk fiddlers, such as :~

Eileen Ivers
Charlie McKerron
Marianne Campbell
Clare McLaughlin
Sean Smyth
etc.

Lol, you know one of the things i hate about guitar hero, is that it uses classic rock songs... so now we're gona have a bunch of poser kids that know one or two songs from the artist and just download the songs off lime wire without really knowing what the songs mean... but as for violin hero... it just doesn't look as cool as the guitar controller... no one rocks out to classical music... I want to say Nay on violin hero...

Good question, and actually now that I think of it, imagine Harp Hero? Or Nintendo wii for harp? The neighbours would call the the truck with the men in white suits for me if they saw me doing that in the living room window!

~Itzhak Perlman, Isaac Stern and Jascha Heifetz did it for me as a kid. Now, how do we get kids to listen to them and the new generation of violinists, like Joshua Bell and Sarah Chang?

Hey here's an idea! Let's get the parents to listen and enjoy classical music and their kids will hear it playing at home and the seed will be planted. It worked with me.
