I would say it was possible that if your mind mentally believes the impact..it could stop your heart and your breathing.

Dreams are actually somehow connected to real life via our subconcious mind. For example, at the end of your dream, you'd probably wake up. E.g. When you hear someone calling you in your dream, it's actually someone really calling you in real life. So for that case of dying, it probably had something to do with the person suffering from a heart attack or asthmatic, or maybe even fall of the bed and hit the head, during the dream =)

I've always heard that if you die in a dream you die in real life. It's so not true. I've died in a few dreams and in one I went on to an afterlife. I woke up fine the next morning.

I've heard that it is nearly impossible to die in a dream because your mind does not want you to. That's why you wake up just before a moment of death. Human instinct is to preserve life; therefore, you don't die in dreams.

In my book, The Dictionary of Dreams . by Gustavus Miller.
It says, falling means you will encounter hard ships but will over come them. That is the best I can tell you about dreaming
and falling.
