No I would never pick up a hitch hiker.

When I was a kid I'd be walking down the road and cars would pull over and offer me rides. I never got in .....

Probably a good reason why I'm still alive :)

i use to pick up hitch hikers years ago because i use to and i knew what it felt like when no one would pick you up for quite some time .now i don't drive so i cant but you don't see as many as you once would so i suppose i still would if i drove but be more careful :-)

NO!!! What if they're a murderer or something like that. Or out to kill someone. Bad idea if you pick up a hitch hiker.

I did pick up a hitch hiker at about this time last year.
He was carrying a huge box that was gift wrapped.
He got in the car and I asked him, "hey, what's in the box?"
He go really mad and said, "none of your f***ing business".
I was shocked. I was speechless. I was too taken aback to kick him out of my car.
He seemed to put down his walls as we talked about the weather, television, news....
Inspired, I asked again, "what's in the box?"
And again I got the same reply!
This time I pulled the car over! I told him to get out! He jumped out alongside the highway and shook his fist at me as I pulled away.
Do you know that the idiot left his package in my car?

Yes, but I have no dependents am a trained combat soldier and think dying trying to help a total stranger would not be such a bad way to go.

No way -- most people won't and most people are afraid to hitch hike too -- it's dangerous. That's why you rarely see any anymore.
