There are laws concerning disturbing the peace and noise pollution. After the police leave and he turns it loud again, call the police back. Be persistant. Sometimes one has to make the police enforce the laws. If you had children this would be highly inappropriate. As your husband is studying, it is noise disturbance. Talk to your other neighbors and get them to call the police, too. Or buy the guy a stereo with headphones and tell him to stay in his house and blow his brains out!!!

Good luck and may God bless you.

You do have a real problem with possible retaliation since the J A** is a cholo.........this is a be very careful situation. Can you both move out....?? Move in with family for a time while your husband finishes his schooling, or friends? I am sure this isn't what you want to hear, but if asking him nicely as a neighbor to neighbor has not worked then I don't see a choice. If you keep calling the police then you will be targeted. Gosh, good luck to the both of you.

Does your community have noise restrictions? If he is violating the restriction, keep calling the police. They will arrest him eventually if he is breaking the law. You could ask the police what laws are available to you. If there are no restrictions for the 4-10pm period, then you are left with appealing to his better nature (I know, less than nothing).

Do you own your home? Bushes between the street and the house may buffer some of the noise. Adding insulation to the walls may also provide some buffering effect.

Does he live in a home he or his family owns, or is it a rental? You could complain to his landlord if it is a rental. If the landlord gets enough complaints, the landlord may not renew the lease, or may raise the rent (when the lease is renewed) to drive him out. Also, a lot of leases have nuisance clauses, which may put him in breach of the contract before the lease ends.

Good luck!

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard stories of electronic devices that can remotely "zap" electronic devices like, oh I don't know, bass/woofers being blasted at inappropriate times with no regard for neighbors...
Look into it, if the police can;t stop him and he has no respect for those around him maybe technology is the way to handle things.
Do some research, maybe you can find the answers to your problem, And if he loses enough money repairing his sound system he'll learn a thing or two himself.
Good luck with it!

I once lived in an appartment with a down stairs neighbor that would party all night - making LOTs of noise.
We got up in the morning , layed my stereo speakers face down on the floor, cranked the volume up all the way, and left for a few hours. Problem solved.
.
OR speak with the police and explain what is happening when they drive away. I'm quite sure they would be happy to come back a few minutes later. Believe me, they will lose their sense of humor when they discover someone is ignoring their orders!, they love it.

Approach him with your husband and talk to him. Tell him that's it's disrespectful to do this. Let him hear for himself how loud his system is and maybe he'll get it.
He's not gonna 'retaliate' if you just talk to him like anyone else. And why is he sitting in his car for so long, by himself? Maybe he could use a couple of friends, offer a beer (40oz) and some kind words.

You have think like he does. I can't believe the police don't do anything.
Throw some firecrackers under his car (not really) but I am sure you would love to.
I can't think of anything. What is a cholo?

Good luck!

If this 'rude jerk' works then I would tell other neighbors 'be prepared tonight' and I'd blare some obnoxious music about the time you think he might be going to sleep. You could also ask the police to make a round every 10 minutes and see what he keeps doing. If he doesn't stop they should ticket him.

Start by not calling the police the "fuzz". How 1970's and disrespectfull. As far as your inconsiderate neigbor goes, you could try contacting the police a few more times and perhaps their warnings to him will get firmer if they keep getting called out on him.

Continue calling the police. Most communities have noise ordinances that prohibit loud music.
