i want a UC school that has nurturing teachers, friendly people who aren't ultra-competitive and cut-throat, a nice environment and atmosphere, good weather, nice facilities, near a city, with always fun and popping things to do. not a boring area...

and please dont say "any UC"
please give me names of UC's you would advise, and tell me why

i would say that UCSD and UCSB give you the best fit. They both have nice weather, and a laid-back So-Cal atmosphere. Also, they are both known for being fun while still having great academics, and are located in or near a city. Watch out though, they are both getting more and more competitive!

The UCs are great schools. Berkeley and UCSD are great schools, but you should also concider UCLA. It is also a really prestige and amazing school. a. yes, one application. you can apply to all of them through one app. however there is an application fee for each one. its 60 bucks each i think. so for 3 that would be $180 to apply b.Its one main application. you'll right all the essays on one form. also, if you don't live in California it will be a lot harder to get in, because they highly favor ppl from California. But if you do live here, the great advantage is the cheaper tuition. great education for a reasonable price. i truly wish you the best of luck.

UC Irvine is a campus that has really grown and become nationally ranked. Irvine is a great place and very clean with new buildings. The location is in Orange County near Newport and Laguna Beach. You need to check the availability of your major and if it has been successful at the university. UCI is national ranked for engineering among several other majors.

UC-Berkeley is very competitive -- plus it rains all winter. I got my PhD there -- so know first hand.

UC-Davis and UC-Merced are in the middle of nowhere.

UCSD and UCLA are the only other ones that are in a city -- though Irvine & Riverside are near cities.

But if you are smart -- you should go to the BEST one you can get into. Berkeley is the best.

It's unfortunate that all the UC schools which are cut throat are the ones with the best campus' and near the cities.

UCBerkley- 20 minutes away from San Francisco by the BART underground system, good weather, great campus, nice enviornment, difficult to get into! (3.83-4.2 GPA/2000+ SAT score)

UCLA- 20 minutes away from Hollywood (depending on traffic!), good campus, good weather (hot usually, it's LA), difficult to get into (3.8 GPA-4.2GPA/ 1900+ SAT score)
