I want to, but don't know how. Will you support me? I am passionate about the game and love playing and watching it and want some place for my friends and I to go to play competitively. We deserve the same as the guys, don't we? Let's take a stand, girls. What do you say?

Of Course, hockey is the best sport in the world. It isn't fair that girls can only go to college. Good Idea

If it's something you really want to do then you should look in to it. However to say that you deserve the same chance as a guy is an over simplification. You say it as if it's a right. The reason men "get the chances" and get paid more is because that's what the people want and are willing to pay for. Supply and demand.

The real issue is not one of discrimination, as many women might like to believe, but a simple matter of economics. Are there truly people out there that would pay to watch women play hockey? There weren't even enough fans to support an alternative men's hockey called the WHA and the farm league IHL folded. These are not good indicators for a successful womens league.

Redwingsqueen - PinkWings??? Even the WNBA knows better than THAT!

First as a woman player I want that WNHL now. I want to play in it. It's garbage that I don't get the same opportunity as a guy. There is a "pro" league for women in the North. Some of the Olympians play in it. There are like six team and Just like Women's pro football they really don't get paid. The first year they played for t-shirts. Now at least they have a trophy. There is only one team in the US. There rest are in Canada. Women's hockey is not boring, If you are fan of hockey at all you would like it. Come watch some of my games. We are entertaining. I play travel so we are all over the place, yes Bob I'm talking to you , big guy. ;)
Edit LITY. From what i've heard from gals that have tried out. They were not getting paid hardly anything. I'm sure the former Olympians are getting chunks of the sponsorship moneys so the leagues have names playing in it. I still would like to play in it myself. But I can't afford a paycut right now. I still would like to see this group of girls get the reconition they deserve.

Redwingsqueen: As a fellow woman that plays hockey For the love of ( insert diety here) NOOOO PINK WINGS. That is the name of a little girls team. There used to be a pink wing team here in Florida for girls 5-7. They didn't like the name either. So it was cahnged after one season.

I am not against women's hockey in any way. But considering the "immense" popularity of the NHL in the U.S., I don't think a WNHL would make it. The NHL is doing really bad right now, let's try to get that back on track in the states first, then it's possible to start thinking of a women's league.

I've been thinking that for the longest timeee. I'm IN LOVE with hockey. I'd Love to be able to play it the furthest i've ever gone was street hockey lol with blades. I'd Love for one day to make a Pink Wings team. LOL instead of the REdwings.

Well, how much demand for Women's Hockey is there?
This should give some indication on weather it will work or not. I would love to see Woman go Professional.

If you can't spell league then the chances of you starting one are slim to none. Probably a typo I guess, always wondered why there is no-spell check for questions.
WNBA type of thing? Sorry to break it to you but that would be boring as hell. No offence but I would rather watch paint dry.
Male Junior hockey is more competitive than women's hockey. I am not saying that to be mean but just as a statement of fact. You could compile a bunch of 16-17 year old boys that would put a good whooping on a WNHL team.

What is wrong with the current women's hockey league that most of the members of Team Canada and Team USA play in?

Kimmy..........some of the women in the league get paid quite well (Hayley Wickenheiser gets 6 figures)

It's a great idea to try to start one. But do you have the millions of dollars to start it up, and more importantly, can you afford the millions of dollars you'd lose when it gets cut from the airwaves quicker than Vince McMahon's XFL?
