What is the equation for aluminum metal and water?

is it Al(s) +2H20(l)-->Al(OH)2(aq)+H2(g)

2 Al + 6 HOH --> 2 Al(OH)3 + 3 H2

Yu are on the right lines, but Al is in group 3 so you make Al(OH)3. And it's insoluble; (s) not (aq).

Since water has two H, you will find it easier to start with 2 Al (an even number).
