Yes, almost every private school and nearly all public schools practice affirmative action as part of their admissions processes. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

Take a look at these statistics:
At MIT, 31.6% of black applicants were accepted compared to 15.9% of the general pool. At Harvard, 16.7% of black applicants were accepted compared to 10.7% of the general pool.

Hispanics, Blacks, and Native Americans generally benefit. Asians are generally punished.

Just because one is a minority doesn't mean their college application is reviewed first, nor does it mean that any "hard luck" story will give them precedence. They are in the same boat as everyone else. If you want to get into Harvard, you must be exceptional. If I were in an admissions committee, I would tear up any "hard luck" essay and put the application in the back of the pile. We should all be grateful for being given the chance to apply to college in the first place. If you don't get in, tough luck. Try another school. and smartness isn't everything either. you can be book smart, but you gotta have street smarts to make it anywhere in this changing society.

Here are some observations:

1--I would work on your grammar; if this is an example of your writing style, you will have trouble getting into a top school.

2--There are some considerations for minorities in admissions in some schools. However, remember that even within that category it is very competitive--not only your grades but the caliber of school you attended determine whether you can get into a top college.

3--If you are going to a state university (in your state), you probably have a good chance of getting accepted based on your grades. Your SAT or ACT will also have a great deal of influence on acceptance.

For State Universities, it would not actual count number. only get a fabulous GPA and take the SAT and you gets in for particular. in case you have been using for bigger public and private universities, definite it does impression information. even nonetheless, being a minority would not constantly help. Being Asian, i'm at a draw back against another ethnicity, considering the fact that they anticipate bigger grades/try rankings from us. many faculties tend to cap the quantity of asians admitted, and whilst they attain a definite proportion, they immediately reject all different asians who prepare. it rather is unlawful, yet they do it in any case. it rather is form of ways we decide black people who sing. A white and black singer of equivalent capacity: we'd think of the white singer has greater expertise, whether the two are the two skillful. it rather is rather unfair, even nonetheless it rather is existence. As with different minorities, including African-American or Hispanic, being a minority will actually help positioned you in front of white human beings and Asians.

That is a hard question to answer, it depends on the school, then the minority, and the student's credentials. Sometimes it does;sometimes it does not. It is much better to rely on your credentials, test scores, essay, etc to get into college than your minority status. Good luck!

It certainly doesnt hurt being a minority (atleast your name isn't John Smith) but it won't count that much in the application process.

I don't think so. I think paying the out of state tuition proves favorable for acceptance. People don't want to admit it, but the higher the pay, the more likely colleges will take you.
