Right now i have been using Todd Heap and getting nowhere due to injuries and a rough situation. I plan to bench Heap until he starts showing some signs of life.

What TE would you pickup and why? (I am looking for a good fill for this week and also somebody who will play well until Heap makes his comeback)

Donald Lee (GB)

Desmond Clark (Chi)

Eric Johnson (NO)

Randy McMichael (StL)

Alge Crumpler (Atl)

Jeff King (Car)

LJ Smith (Phi)

I disagree with everyone. This has got to be L.J. Smith. This will be his either second or third week off of injury (not quite sure, either 2nd or 3rd), the Eagles have been dying to use him, and he is McNabb's favorite target (possibly besides Westbrook). I can't really back him up here with stats since he hasn't been playing but those reasons up there should be enough. But if not:
Next game is against the Dolphins, enough said. Porter and Thomas are not great pass covering LB's so Smith should have a good day against a piss-poor defense and team in general.
After that, the Pats. Now it sounds worse than it should be. Member everyone predicted Dallas Clark would break out against the Pats cause they had no one to cover him, well same story for Smith. Except, he's even more athletic! Now granted, Clark only had 2 catches for 15 yards. But he did get hurt in that game and Manning has other outstanding targets, which I hardly would call Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis, the 1 game wonder.
If by then Heap hasn't returned to form, the Eagles then get Seattle. One of the worst pass defenses currently, so again another big game. However, Lofa Tatupu IS a good cover linebacker so if he isn't blitzing a lot it may be a bump in the road. But I still think Smith is the best option here.

Other guys:
King-unreliable. Has many weeks with 1 or 2 catches. That's Testeverde/Carr/Moore's fault but still doesn't help fantasy-wise
Crumpler-unreliable. Again, too many weaks with so few catches. With Vick, I'd easily say him because Vick likes him more than McNabb does Smith. And you think L.J. has had injury problems, ask Alge. He's killing my team right now this year (I got him last round though so no swaet off my back)
Clark-2 TE system. Olsen takes away from his activity somewhat. And as a lifelong Bear fan, I never trust any offensive player. Having an offensive star here is too good to be true. Just a consistent starter is too good to be true.
Johnson-not enough looks. With the 8,000 guys New Orleans uses on offense, Johnson never gets more than 3-4 receptions and 25-30 yards. However, I think he has like 3 or 4 TD's so he's not a terrible option for a potential 6 point guy.
McMichael-too many problems. New system he hasn't quite learned yet, struggling team in general, hasn't produced at all, just not targeted enough. Stay away from him.

Donald Lee wouldn't be a bad choice either. I just prefer Smith a little bit more. Plus Smith has a much easier road ahead in the next couple weeks. Green Bay faces Carolina that has been holding teams to less than 17-20 points frequently, Detriot that forces a boatload of turnovers, and Dallas who just generally all around has a good D.

I think your good with Smith or Lee, I'd go with Smith.

I would go with Donald Lee.

First scratch Desmond off the list since he splits with Olsen who is a better TE recently. Scratch King off cause of his QB situation. LJ Smith just by watching him cough up the ball last week and McMichael who wont do anyone any good...his 2nd TD of the season came from a Steven Jackson pass. Thats not gonna happen again.

Johnson and Crumpler would be alright, but Donald Lee has a more reliable QB who loves to throw. I would definitely take my chances on Lee.

Donald Lee -

Favre is a top 1-2 in yards every week and this season. Lee will get his vs a weak Panthers team. He had a TD last week and is becomming a reliable target.

With Grossman in CHI again, Clark is a close second. However, Greg olsen is getting more play time.

Saints are too hard to read week to week if they will score and how.

Rams are just weak all around. Holt is the primary target in all situations.

Harrington or Lefty in ATL are not reliable. Neither is much of a TE passer

Jeff King? Who is that? Plays in CAR with Testeverde or Carr versus a tuff GB defense. GB's weakness is defending the TE. However, Jeff King... who is that?

Philly is struggling on offense unless Westbrook is handling the ball.

Eric Johnson- This offense is back on track, despite the loss last week (even though the offense still put up decent numbers). I like Johnson because Brees is obviously a good quarterback, this offense can score, and Brees is growing more fond of Johnson, especially in the Red Zone

With Aaron Hernandez at TE, Gronkowski isn't going to have a repeat performance like he had last week. I'd go with Watson but you don't have much talent to choose from.

The Only tight end I would ever use is Tony Gonzalez The best t/End of all time baby. None of your choices are worthy, but if I had to pick a 2nd place tight end I would go with Donald Lee Green bay has been passing all over everyone lately

Lee in GB.

Hes been red-hot lately, espicailly with the TD catch last week against the Vikes. He has also caught Favre's eye.

Crumpler is the most talented of that bunch, but his stock has dropped considerably without Vick. L.J. Smith, if he can stay healthy, is probably the one I'd go with.
