Well, I just started swimming two weeks ago. I've never really swam before in my life. This is my last week. I've never had this problem before, except in the last few days:

Whenever I swim for more than 30 minutes (ONLY doing freestyle and backstroke) I tend to get a headache and get nauseated. I almost threw up today, and I had to sit down for about 10 minutes before I could get a grip on myself.

Is there something I should be concerned about? Oh, and I'm a freshman in high school.

First thing - see a doctor before they have to carry you to a hospital.

You are certainly overexerting yourself to the point where your body is reacting in a negative manner. It may be nothing but then it could be something.

It is best to get a complete physical before engaging in strenuous exercise. It doesn't matter how young or old you are.

Your doctor will advise you as to how best to continue.

The brain needs oxygen, by having these headaches and nausia you are denying oxygen to the brain. Im with the others on this, dont do too much, swimming for half hour and only started two ago is pretty huge.... Its like any exercise you do, start small n work up... you will have better outcomes :)

it just means that your working harder than your body can handel. It wont hurt you, it just feals bad. Try not eating anything up to an hour before prac and stay hydrated. If you cant' take it try backing off just a little. DONT USE IT AS AN EXCUSE TO SLACK OFF. as workouts build in intensity you need to be ready to take it on, that wont happen if you dont' work hard now. adn make sure you get to all the workouts, if you dont' you won't be conditioned enough to do the work later on.

i swim on club and there are constantly people getting out, throwing up, and getting right back in to do it again. you learn to just keep going even when your body physicly can't. you just do it.

I used to get headaches during practice too. Don't know if its the same deal but make sure you exhale all of your air before breathing to take in more. If you intake more air before you have exhaled the air you already have the oxygen exchange is too much the brain to handle giving you a very painful headache.

You are doing too much to start with - you need to build it up slowly - try doing just 20 minutes and have a short rest every 5.
Keep it up - it's great exercise.
If you are still having problems perhaps see your Doctor.

you are doing way too much! you're just overexhausted. swimming is not a sport meant to be done for just a few weeks. it' too "intense". you are training way too hard! i would suggest stopping and seeing a doctor! after resting a while, try joining a real swim team that swims year round. that's the only way to get proper training. :)

maybe u should try out a little easier sets... are u getting enough rest between ur sets??? maybe instead of getting like one minute rest between a set try like 3 or 4 (especially if ur just starting out).. i wouldnt be too worried though.. swimming is a hard sport (people usually dont reconize that).. good luck!
