Um, you can't.

Breaking the water does not actually speed up or start labor, either. That is a common misconception doctor's believe. I have heard and read numerous things where a woman's water was broke and nothing happened to speed labor. Sometimes, labor can even stop after breaking the water! She can even give birth entirely without the bag of waters having broken. This is called being born "in the call" and is considered very special. (Look it up) The best thing is to let labor start naturally.

There is actually a new study that says you can wait up to 4 days after the water breaks to deliver, if you have failed to go into labor. As long as no signs of infection show up, and she has not stuck anything up there, she is fine. Please read all the forum discussion below to gain a full understanding.

Speaking as a professional, the only way to break your wife's water is to remove all the pornography from your home. Perhaps lend it to a friend, one that you know will put it to good use. Also give that handsome chap any oils or lubricants you may use in your lovemaking as these can only delay the birth process. Candles and some romantic, easy listening music would also make your friend's time alone with himself more enjoyable and will surely induce your wife's labor.

I don't know if you are kidding or serious.

Do not break your wife's water. There is a risk of the cord falling through if there is a lot of amniotic fluid. This is absolutely life threatening for the baby and requires an immediate c-section. Doctor's have had this experience. Most of the time, they wait until the baby's head is well engaged before they risk it given that the cord can't fall through the vagina if the head is in the way.

You can't.

Only a doctor can strip membranes and induce labor.

You just have to wait.

If you tried sex, spicy foods and all that stuff, then you gotta wait for the baby to make up it's own mind!

Jaymz - you are dumb. sex is fine at any time during pregnancy unless you are put on bedrest or pelvic rest.

Don't mess with Mother Nature....your wife is susceptible to an infection as well as other catastrophies. That Baby will come when it is ready not you.

You really should let things happen naturally...that is the best way to ensure that the baby stays safe until he/she is ready to come into the world. Good luck!

You cant break her water.

You also CAN have plenty of sex after the 8th month. My doctor recommended it. Semen has natural prostaglandins which helps thin the cervix. Sex is perfectly fine unless your doctor says otherwise.
