I have a friend that says his brother has found a 73 plymouth duster with only 38,oooo miles on it.He claims that the car has a auotmatic floor shift from fsctory. He also claims that the car has no rust and that the car was garage kept and not driven in the winter.I was told that the car has a 318 c i d.I thought that the 318 cars were all colum shift not floor shift.I thought that you could get a 340 duster with a floor shift.I was also told that the car has a bench seat with the floor shift. Now am i being told something accurate or is someone pulling my leg?Any information anyone could give me would greatly appreciated.

I have owned more than a few A bodys with various engine and seat combos but I have never had one with a bench seat and a floor shifter not even in the manuel trans ones.It might be posiible that it came that way but I'm thinking someone added it to the car or swapped out the buckets for a bench seat.I would look at the floor boards and check for other holes from where it could have been changed from buckets to a bench seat and also look at the way the shifter has been installed if it doesn't look factory it probably isn't.

You are wrong thinking that all 318's are colum shift. all the way back in 66 they were using the ratchet shifter, even on sixbangers, my wife had one in a 66 barracuda 225 with it. But as far as I know, never with a bench seat

The floor shift was available as an option in '73, you had to buy a console and bucket seats to go with it, but it was available. Sounds like a nice car.

If it has a bench seat and a floor shifter it was put in after market. 318 did come out with sticks only if it had bucket seats.
