Bush and the Republican Presidential candidates always promise 'tax cuts'.
But please look at this:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071113/ap_on_go_co/war_costs

And let's ask them who the hell is going to pay for this?
And how?

Democrats, on the other hand, realise that 'somebody' has to pay the piper. Hence 'tax increases' in the future.
It's called 'living in the real world'
And this bullsh*t story that 'the economy will grow us out of the deficit' also seems to be 'pie-in-the-sky', doesn't it?
Opinions?

Hey Ryan G
The 'piper' in this case is China, and all the rest of the world that the money to run this stupid 'war'.
Give 'tax cuts' at home, and 'borrow' from abroad?
Where's the logic?

tax cuts spur the economy of those who have money already. they do more for those who have a lot of it. that's like cheering when gas prices go down 10 cents. 10 cents out of $3.50 is nothing. and when will you cons quit whining about your opponents getting a job. i've worked for 49plus years, and still work because i want to, not because i have to. one thing i know, is that if you pay for things as you buy them, you are never in debt.

edit:mr sfc, yeah that says a lot about you retiring after 20 years as an e-7. i made e-6 in 4 and a half years and was up for e-7 when i got out after 7 yrs 10 months. we used to call guys like you lifers, can't make it on the outside. does that sound like you......

What scam are you speaking of? Would you rather the United States pull out Iraq leaving that country completely vulnerable to a terorist nation takeover. Whether you agree with the war or not, pulling out now would cost the American taxpayer much more in the future.
And as for your comment "Democrats, on the other hand, realise that 'somebody' has to pay the piper." It is because of democrat 'tax and spend' pratices that we have a deficit as large as we do. In all fairness, I do believe the current administration has done a poor job in being fiscally conservative.

Your question has unstated premises. One premise is that it is somehow moral or just to extract someone’s property at the point of a gun. I reject this premise. Your belief that someone has got to “pay the piper” rests on premise that it is moral, just or necessary to pay the piper. When the piper is chosen by corrupt politicians I do not necessarily agree with the choice of piper. Any product or “service” offered by government can be provided better, more efficiently and more ethically in a truly free market.

FYI: I am not a Republican, I am a capitalist.

Tax cuts work every time they're tried, in spurring the economy and increasing revenue. It's an indisputable fact that people who will keep more of what they produce will be more productive.

You forget, along with those in Washington in BOTH parties, that the money they TAKE from us does NOT belong to them. The budget deficit is not because of tax cuts, it's because of out of control spending.

well, let's just say these are not the best days for the Republican party and if all the Republicans came into the real world, they would realize what bush and the rest of the party is doing. We are losing $500 billion a year with him in power, and if intrest rates go up, this number could increase by a lot. Go to this site to see the debt to this second: http://brillig.com/debt_clock/

Yes, honey, the Tax Cuts paid for themselves.
You don't watch Business News or read ANYTHING about business, do you?

The best way to learn about economics, is to get a job.

All you need do is look at the record.Tax cuts produce more revenue to the treasury. That is a cold hard fact you can easily look up for yourself. If you cannot figure out why that is then I can only say I'm sorry about your lack of understanding of how a capitalist economy works.

Everyone has an opinion.

Mine is that this is nothing more than another cheap political ploy to attempt to gain the white house.

Ask yourself why this "method" was not used before the presidential races started. Or better yet why has nothing else to include past wars not been figured this way?

Sorry but we have seen nothing from this congress but attempts to embarrass the white house and I have come to expect nothing but.

The report you have offered in your link is biased. The tax cuts have increased the amount of revenue so much the "Liberal" experts are at a loss to explain it.

As far as "Pay for this..." I assume you're referring to the war on terror. Well... you haven't died in a suicide attack. I'll accept that as a "Down Payment."

Warm regards,
Douglas

Post Script: There's a reason it's called a "Tax Return..."
it's your money till the Government takes it from you. Get a clue.
