As Canadians, we share the North American continent with you 'Americans' and Mexicans. When I hear the word 'American', it just means a citizen of the USA, as opposed to us Canadians who consider ourselves 'North Americans' but not 'Americans'.
Unlike some people, I don't see the word 'American' as being pejorative but it doesn't make me swell up with pride either. In terms of culture, the USA has the best and the worst of what the world has to offer and I'm not sure what to think of that...

America to me means American English, yes with our regional accents, order (or atleast an attempt at it with our laws and police and armies) and distinct regionalism (i as a southern woman have a different culture then those in other areas), it also represents a mix of various cultures, not really having a distinct one , since we are so individualized, i think we have moved more to thinking , i know i have, as i am an American, and this is how i am, but how i am doesnt represent an American, there is no generic description, so i dont really think it means anything to me culturally or nationally nor for my identity
America is a mix, and i feel i am a mix,

It means everything I don't agree with politically. The culture is less than appealing and the exaggerated nationalism reminds me of early nazi germany.
Patriotism doesn't make sense to me. We don't choose where we are born why should I celebrate the seemingly random chance I was born here?

America=No.1 to me.

America is the leader of the free world!
It is the birthplace of cultural movement, such as rock, hippies, and the second country in all of history to have a democratic system, the second to have a republican system, and the frist to have a democratic republican system. We inspire France to have its own revolution. It is also where many movies come from.
