Beckett or Sabbathia?
I would've given it to Sabbathia if I had a vote. Beckett had more wins, but Sabbathia was better in all the other categories(ERA, K's, etc.)

The man who won it. Sabathia. He was CLEARLY the best pitcher all year. Wins aren't as important as the other stats since the # of runs the team scores affects that.

Beckett should have won.

Sabbathia had more innings because he pitched 4 more games then Beckett.

Beckett had more K's per inning then CC and would have had at least 2-3 more wins if he didn't get hurt.

The stats are very close. ERA, K's, etc........

Beckett is the first AL pitcher to win 20 games since 2005 and he did it in less innings and games then Sabbathia.

That is why Beckett should have won.............

Choke Category? Uh... your forgetting he's never been in the playoffs before. And not only that but the AL Cy Young award goes to the best Pitcher in the AL for the SEASON. Not postseason. But yea Sabathia had better statistics than Beckett.

C.C had better stats during the year except for 1 less win so he deserved it. How many times are we gonna hear about Beckett's post season games, those stats don't count towards the regular season.

Yes Beckett had more wins, but it was only one more win then Sabbathia. Yes Beckett did great in the playoffs and WS, but remember, the voting is before the playoffs (I'm glad it is so it's fair to all pitchers in MLB, it is really only fair). I'm glad Sabbathia got it. It was close but Sabbathia did overall better.

I'm a Sox fan, and I even thought it should've gone to Sabathia. The guy was a horse and he was one of the big reasons the Indians made the playoffs, sure he choked in the playoffs (while Beckett was incredible), but Sabathia was better in my opinion.

Sabathia was deserving of it. People want to give it to Beckett because of the playoffs where he excelled and Sabathia didn't, but it is a regular season award and is voted on before the playoffs start.

I did have a Vote ,,, and I voted for C.C.,,,,,, And you are correct about the stats,,,, its so funny to see all the Haters,,,, and not only the Red Sox fans, its all over, on the radio sports talk shows..... Why Not C.C. is there a ( I hate to say it a race Issue here ),,,, is it because he wears his hat a little different... In the early days , people Hated the players that were wearing their pants up high..... why the hate....... Can you imagine only 37 walks...that alone speaks for itself..

Sabathia and Beckett were close and should have been close. I agree with the selection of Sabathia and believe he was a good choice.

Beckett....He was the first to win 20 games...He dominated head to head with Sabbathia...and with his dominance in the playoffs, its kind of obvious...
