Is it possible you are being too controlling with your imaginary friend? Try giving them some space. Lighten up on the corporal punishment too.

Feeling unloved happens to more people than we think. We can have friends, or people who like us enough to invite us for parties or dinner. But unless they really care about how we feel inside we still can feel unloved. It is not uncommon to feel starved for love and affection. But often what we crave is mental affection and a Dear friend that cares about our emotions and how we feel inside.
I bet your imaginary friend just doesn't have good taste.

I think what you're trying to say is that you feel bad about yourself. Since your imaginary friend is projected by you, any hatred from "them" to you is surely your own creation, since your imaginary friend isn't capable of generating his/her own feelings (or they wouldn't be imaginary).
Having an imaginary friend isn't a problem. Its how you see yourself which is. You may benefit from resources designed to improve your self-esteem.

Girl, they are plotting against us. Have you ever been to an imaginary convention? They've got power, they've got out minds! They even tried getting Iraq.

It's okay, we all have fights with our imaginary friends...I'm having a fight with mine right now, she wants to use the computer, she's complaining that I'm always on it. I told her to leave me alone ;)

Somebody is a little too old for an imaginary friend =P! But seriously, as stated above, he's in your head and it is in your head that he doesn't love you. You can make him do anything you want in your head!
